According to the terms of the alliance, IBM will expand their Cloud Private to Red Hat's OpenShift container platform so that developers can use cloud services for IoT (Internet of Things) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) applications.
According to IBM, the combination of cloud and containers can be crucial for the development of IoT and AI. They also believe that since organizations have adopted a cloud-first strategy, the adoption of cloud-based platforms has also increased.
To meet the rising demand for a container-powered cloud platform, IBM say that they had to rekindle their business relationship with Red Hat. They also claim that IBM have retooled their architecture and moved its entire software portfolio to container technologies, keeping future trends in mind.
IBM say that their deep-learning toolkit IBM PowerAI will also be available on Red Hat's operating system. They also claim that this deal will steer their business relations with Red Hat in the right direction.
